Autodesk Inventor Feature Recognition Enabler is an add-in for Autodesk Inventor that converts imported “dumb” solids into fully editable, parametric Inventor features. Developed by Autodesk, Inc., it analyzes non-native or neutral CAD geometry and recognizes common features—then rebuilds them as native operations so you can change dimensions, suppress steps, reorder the model tree, and preserve design intent without recreating the part from scratch.

Key capabilities:

  • Identifies typical features such as extrusions (bosses and cuts), revolves, holes, pockets, slots, fillets, chamfers, and patterns.
  • Works with imported models from neutral and non-native CAD formats (for example, STEP, IGES, and SAT).
  • Offers automatic and guided recognition, with tools to accept, refine, or exclude proposed features.
  • Integrates directly into the Inventor part workflow to speed up reuse of vendor and legacy data, reduce remodeling time, and improve downstream edits.

Note: Availability and implementation can vary by Inventor version; in some releases, feature recognition is integrated, while others use this enabler as a separate add-in. An installed, compatible version of Autodesk Inventor is required.

Autodesk Inventor Feature Recognition Enabler is developed by Autodesk, Inc.. The most popular version of this product among our users is 2.0.
